都心の一角にひっそりと佇む、歴史ある稲荷神社｜疫病退散を願う「延壽稲荷神社」

千代田区神田須田町にひっそりと佇む延壽稲荷神社は、江戸時代から続く歴史ある神社です。とても小さな神社で、横並びにお参りはできないほど。大都心の狭間で神田須田町を見守り続ける稲荷神社です。

延壽稲荷神社の由緒とご利益

延壽稲荷神社は、江戸時代、越前大野藩主土井家の屋敷神として祀られたのが始まりとされています。明治時代に入り、土井家の屋敷が移転した後も、この地の守り神として地元の人々に大切に守られてきました。

昭和の区画整理で社殿は失われたものの、町内で疫病が流行したのを機に再興されました。

ご利益は疫病退散。それでしばらくの間すぐ近くの小川町の交差点にアマビエ様がいたのかも？なんてほんの少し思ったり。

鍵を咥えるクールなイケメンお狐様

延壽稲荷神社のお狐様は右が宝珠、左が鍵を咥えています。おきつね鍵ラーの私としてはとても気になるお狐様。

カメラ目線のお狐様は凛々しくもありますね。昭和のイケメンみたいな笑。鍵の部分もそのまま石を掘ってあり、よく欠損しなかったなぁなどと思いながら写真を撮らせていただきました。

小さくてもとてもきれいに管理されている延壽稲荷神社

駐車場と駐輪場の間に鎮座する延壽稲荷神社。ともすれば忘れ去られてしまいそうな大きさですが、とてもきれいに管理してあります。これは地元の方々に愛され信仰されている証拠でしょうね。何かとても暖かいものを感じました。

延壽稲荷神社は都営新宿線「小川町」、東京メトロ丸の内線「淡路町」から徒歩1分のところにあります。古本やレトロ喫茶店、おしゃれカフェが集中する神保町からも徒歩15分の場所にあります。小川町・淡路町の周辺はカフェやレストラン、居酒屋から高級店まで数えきれないほど点在しています。小川町・淡路町駅付近を散策するときに少し目を止めてみてはいかがでしょう。何か素敵な出会いがあるかもしれません。

Enju Inari Shrine, quietly nestled in Kanda Sudacho, Chiyoda-ku, is a historic shrine dating back to the Edo period. It is a very small shrine, so small that two people cannot pray side by side. It is an Inari shrine that continues to watch over Kanda Sudacho in the heart of the metropolis.

The History and Benefits of Enju Inari Shrine

Enju Inari Shrine is said to have originated as the tutelary deity of the Doi family, the lord of the Echizen Ono Domain during the Edo period. After the Doi family’s residence was relocated in the Meiji era, the shrine was carefully preserved by the local people as the guardian deity of the area. Although the shrine building was lost during the Showa era’s land readjustment, it was revived after an epidemic broke out in the town. The benefit of the shrine is protection against disease. That’s why I wondered if Amabie was at the nearby Ogawamachi intersection for a while.

The fox deity looking at the camera is also dignified. It looks like a handsome man from the Showa era. The key part is also carved out of stone, and I took a picture of it while thinking that it was amazing that it didn’t get chipped.

Enshu Inari Shrine is located between a parking lot and a bicycle parking lot. It is so small that it could be forgotten, but it is very well maintained. This is proof that it is loved and worshipped by the local people. I felt something very warm.

Enju Inari Shrine is a 1-minute walk from Ogawamachi Station on the Toei Shinjuku Line and Awajicho Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. It is also a 15-minute walk from Jimbocho, where used bookstores, retro coffee shops, and stylish cafes are concentrated. There are countless cafes, restaurants, and izakayas to high-end restaurants around Ogawamachi and Awajicho stations. Why not stop by when you are strolling around Ogawamachi and Awajicho stations?
